The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere in the bar was lively. the price was incredibly cheap, especially considering the stunning location on a beautiful island.
The building itself is quite old and could use some maintenance. There were visible stains and damages throughout, which detracted from the overall charm.

Gorgeous scenery and a beautiful old house steeped in history made for a pleasant stay. The owner was friendly and extremely helpful. The little bar was cosy and the night of traditional Irish musicians is not to be missed. the location was great and there is a kitchen available for guests to cook their own food.
The beds in the dorm room were not very comfortable. Communication between staff was lacking, resulting in a mix-up with dinner reservations and a long wait for food.

Practical bathrooms and a variety of breakfast choices add to the positive experience. Guests can also enjoy the cool bar and the possibility of eating at the hostel in the evening.

The staff at this place were fantastic, really friendly and helpful. They made our stay enjoyable and catered to our needs. The location of this place was also great, with beautiful walks all around. We loved being able to explore the surroundings and take in the scenery. Another advantage was the kitchen and dining areas, which were surprisingly nice for a hostel. It was a pleasant surprise to have a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable dining area to enjoy our meals.
The room was extremely cold, and despite our attempts to get a shower, it was not working properly and the water was cold. This made our stay uncomfortable and unpleasant.

The Valley House Hostel & Bar is a hidden gem on Achill Island. We were amazed by the stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The owner, Pat, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was unforgettable. The cozy bar and delicious Guinness made our evenings even more enjoyable. The unique feature of having a bar and restaurant on-site really set this hostel apart from others. Although the location is a bit isolated, it didn't bother us as we were cycling around the island. Waking up to incredible scenery every morning was a treat. The price was unbeatable and we would definitely return for another budget-friendly and relaxing getaway. we highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The lack of transportation options on Achill Island, making it difficult to explore without a car. Additionally, there was a bit of a walk to reach the hostel, which could be uncomfortable for some guests.
